Women are the foundation of families, communities, and societies. Their health and overall well-being have a tremendous impact but too often, women do not prioritize themselves to get the care they need. This can mean critical delays in detection and in many cases, unnecessary suffering from conditions like fibroids or abnormal uterine bleeding.
It is for these reasons that all of us at Hologic work each and every day to deliver life changing treatments to improve the health and wellness of women everywhere. For decades, we’ve been researching, developing, and innovating to improve women’s health and well-being and our innovations are designed to achieve exceptional clinical results, making it possible to detect, diagnose and treat illnesses and other health conditions earlier and more effectively.
Our minimally invasive gynecological treatment options use science and technology to restore the quality of life for women facing conditions including uterine fibroids and abnormal uterine bleeding. And we don’t just provide solutions for women suffering from abnormal uterine bleeding, we also provide resources and information and help connect women with physicians who are trained in minimally invasive procedures that may provide relief. It is a full circle of care and we’re proud to be a part of it.
We also strive to address the structural and cultural barriers that prevent Black and Hispanic women in the U.S. from receiving the same quality healthcare as white women. Our Project Health Equality initiative accelerates and expands our efforts to increase screening and care across a spectrum of life-threatening conditions (breast cancer, cervical cancer, and abnormal uterine bleeding) that disproportionately affect Black and Hispanic women. Through Project Health Equality, we work with forward-thinking partners to conduct culturally informed research, provide world-class clinical resources, and raise crucial awareness about the importance of preventive care.
Last fall, we were proud to partner with the Black Women’s Health Imperative to present Unmuting Fibroids, a white paper and roundtable discussion designed to shine a light on the glaring disparities that exist in care for the 26 million women in the United States who suffer from uterine fibroids and disproportionately affect up to 80% of Black women. PHE is transforming delivery of day-to-day care, from screenings through treatment, for thousands of underserved women in clinics across the country.
