We’ve Come a Long Way

Advances in technology have changed the game when it comes to treating uterine fibroids and polyps. Now we have procedures that are fast, minimally invasive, and uterine sparing.

Getting to Know the Options

The MyoSure® procedure is used to perform a myomectomy to remove intrauterine fibroids or a polypectomy to remove polyps, without having to remove the uterus. The MyoSure procedure has a short recovery time and is completed without removing the uterus to allow for possible future childbearing.

Dilation and curettage (D&C) involves scraping away the top layer of the uterine lining and is typically performed to determine the cause of heavy bleeding but can also serve as a treatment.¹

Laparoscopic-Radiofrequency-Ablation
The Acessa® procedure uses a laparoscopic ultrasound probe and radiofrequency ablation to maintain the integrity of the uterus by focusing treatment solely on the fibroid (versus cutting into the uterus or removing it completely).2,3

The NovaSure® endometrial ablation procedure is a one-time, 5-minute procedure designed to remove just the uterine lining—the endometrium—which is the part of your body that can cause heavy bleeding.

Major Surgery
Hysterectomy is a permanent solution for women who don’t respond to other treatments. A hysterectomy is a major surgery involving the removal of the entire uterus and should be considered a last resort. The procedure requires a hospital stay, and recovery takes several weeks. After a hysterectomy, you can no longer become pregnant, and you will stop having your period.¹

Important Safety Information

The Acessa ProVu® system is indicated for use in percutaneous, laparoscopic coagulation and ablation of soft tissue, including treatment of symptomatic uterine fibroids under laparoscopic ultrasound guidance. The Acessa ProVu system is contraindicated for patients who are not candidates for laparoscopic surgery and/or patients with a uterus adherent to pelvic tissue or viscera. The Acessa ProVu system’s guidance system is not intended for diagnostic use. Please read all instructions for use of the Acessa ProVu system prior to its use. Safe and effective electrosurgery is dependent not only on equipment design but also on factors under control of the operator. Rare but serious risks include, but are not limited to, skin burns, mild inter-operative bleeding, post-procedural discomfort (cramping, pelvic pain), infection, vaginal bleeding, blood loss and complications related to laparoscopy and or general anesthesia. If you or someone you know has possibly experienced a side effect when using our product please contact your physician. Insufficient data exists on which to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of the Acessa ProVu system in women who plan future pregnancy, therefore the Acessa ProVu system is not recommended for women who are planning future pregnancy.

The MyoSure® tissue removal system, consisting of the MyoSure tissue removal devices (LITE, REACH, XL) and MyoSure controller, is intended for hysteroscopic intrauterine procedures by trained gynecologists to resect and remove tissue including submucous myomas, endometrial polyps, and retained products of conception. The MyoSure MANUAL hysteroscopic tissue removal device is intended for intrauterine use by a trained gynecologist to hysteroscopically resect and remove tissue, including focal lesions such as endometrial polyps and retained products of conception. MyoSure products are not appropriate for patients who are or may be pregnant, or are exhibiting pelvic infection, cervical malignancies, or previously diagnosed uterine cancer.

NovaSure® endometrial ablation is for premenopausal women with heavy periods due to benign causes who are finished childbearing. Pregnancy following the NovaSure procedure can be dangerous. The NovaSure procedure is not for those who have or suspect uterine cancer; have an active genital, urinary or pelvic infection; or an IUD. NovaSure endometrial ablation is not a sterilization procedure. Rare but serious risks include, but are not limited to, thermal injury, perforation and infection. Temporary side effects may include cramping, nausea, vomiting, discharge and spotting. Inform patients to contact you if they experience a possible side effect related to use of this product. If you or someone you know has possibly experienced a side effect when using our product, please contact your physician.
