The time is now: help patients schedule care before the new year

The end of the year is fast approaching, and we’re right in the middle of one of the busiest seasons. Chances are your patients are filling their days thinking of others and making sure the needs of family and loved ones are being met—but taking care of their own needs may get lost in the shuffle. You can help remind them why December is actually a great time to put their health first.

Why it pays to act now

Many patients may have reached their health insurance deductibles by December. While purchasing tangible healthcare products such as eyeglasses and medical equipment may come to mind, patients may not realize they could also be scheduling important gynecologic care before the end of the year.

If you have patients who are suffering from fibroids or abnormal uterine bleeding (AUB), a reminder from you about the possible financial benefits of scheduling that treatment this month may help them commit to the care they deserve.

Ways to connect with your patients

Fortunately, you have several options for reaching your patients. It’s a great idea to utilize the following digital platforms that allow you to get your message out quickly. And take advantage of our templates (links provided below) to make it even easier.

Website/Portal/EMR system

Post an update to your website homepage about the importance of scheduling care in December. Messages on your patient portal or electronic medical records system are also an effective way to communicate with patients.

However, keep in mind that only those patients who are visiting these platforms will see the information. For a time-sensitive issue such as this, you’ll want to also push your message directly to your patients via email and social media posts, as outlined below.

Email

Send an email to help patients with fibroids understand more about the Acessa® procedure. We recommend explaining what the procedure is, how it works, and the results patients commonly experience with the procedure. Include links to the Acessa procedure webpage and this overview video to give patients a more interactive overview.

Sound good? Great, we’ve done it for you! Just click here and scroll down to Office Resources. You’ll find a prewritten email template that you can simply cut, paste, and customize with your office information. There’s even a formatted version with images and graphics if you prefer.

Social media

Whether you use Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, or all three, you can quickly get the word out to patients about scheduling appointments in December if they’ve met their yearly deductible. Again, click here and scroll down to Office Resources. You’ll find examples that you can cut and paste directly into your posts.

There are many reasons why women put off care, and financial concern is often on the list. Help your patients act now, when deductibles may be met, and out-of-pocket costs could be significantly lower than just a month from now.

Visit our Patient Outreach Resource Center where you’ll find the templates we mentioned above as well as other materials to help you support your patients all year long.
